Eden I&R (Information and Referral) is a nonprofit social services agency, based in Hayward and serving all of Alameda County. We accomplish our mission through a variety of programs and products that are accessible to the general public as well as other social service agencies and government departments. The agency’s largest program is 2-1-1 Alameda County, the free, three-digit phone number available 24/7/365 in multiple languages, that connects callers, particularly vulnerable populations, with critical health, housing and human service resource information. Eden I&R also plays a pivotal disaster preparedness and response role in Alameda County.

The Opportunity
Finance
- Lead day-to-day finance operations including providing overall financial oversight and monitoring.
- Oversee Senior Accountant responsibilities as needed including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, dues management, and grants fiscal management and reporting; providing back-up when needed.
- Oversee implementation of sound fiscal management practices and internal controls, oversight and revisions to personnel allocations to accurately reflect program work and develop systems and processes for financial tracking of restricted grants.
- Work with the Leadership Team to establish written financial policies and procedures, to be approved by the Board.
- Work closely with program and development teams with regular meetings on all grant reporting and invoicing; ensuring that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant period.
- Coordinate with Senior Accountant to produce and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as well as presenting financial reports in an accurate, clear and timely manner to the Executive Director and Board as needed.
- Ensure the organization has the fiscal systems and procedures in place to support all operations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
- Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process in conjunction with the leadership team.
- Oversee the annual audit and tax return preparation processes, liaise with independent external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors; assess and implement any changes necessary and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for the audit.
- Support the board finance committee and attend finance committee and full board meetings; providing required financial reports in advance of meetings and responding timely to board requests.
- Oversee the Agency’s 401k plan and other annual filings.
General Business Management
- Support the Executive Director to plan and oversee organization development, including analysis and implementation of priorities, partnerships, and program and infrastructure needs.
- Build organizational infrastructure to support Eden I&R’s work, including program, human resources, facilities, and technology.
- Lead the agency’s annual work planning and budget process.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of required government/contractual forms.
- Manage fixed agency assets for the purpose of tracking deprecation.
- Oversee risk management including relationships with business and worker’s compensation insurance providers.
- Occasionally represent Eden I&R with stakeholders that include county supervisors, city councils and their staff, private funders, community-based organizations, and other partners.
HR
- Oversee human resource functions and policies and maintain Eden I&R as a great place to work and grow professionally.
- Supervise the HR Generalist.
- Review HR documents/memos and assist with HR compliance issues.
Operations
- Oversee facilities and associated issues.
- Working with the Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, ensure the agency’s operations are successfully documented and a plan in place should a disaster occur in Alameda County and Eden I&R designated disaster response role commences.
- Supervise part-time Office Administrator
IT
- Manage the agency’s information technology and data infrastructure.
- Supervise Data Analyst, Enterprise Systems Project Manager, and consultants as determined.
Other
- As a member of the agency’s Leadership Team, assist the Executive Director with the overall planning and development of the Agency. This may include strategic planning, providing data analysis to assist with informed decision making, conducting research into financial best practices and providing guidance/research into Eden I&R’s investments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum five years full-time related work experience in progressively responsible positions with a focus on managing finances and HR functions, preferably with a nonprofit agency
- Experience overseeing financial management of an organization substantially funded through government contracts and foundation grants preferred.
- Advanced skills in Excel and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office; in depth knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
- High-level analytical and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards and OMB uniform guidance
- Knowledge of requirements for 501c (3) organizations and federal and state government contracting
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and stakeholders

- Supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business accounting, public administration or related field preferred
Compensation
Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience includes medical, dental, 401(k) and other benefits. Salary range is $120,000-$145,000 annually.
